I caught my train to Toronto at the last minute, as usually J.
After I camped my chair and pulled out all my necessary belongings, a train guy came to me to explain some safety issues. I tried to pretend that it is amazingly interesting and hoped that the lecture would be soon over. I took advantage of having a chance to ask few questions about the train and later at the end of our conversation he asked me where I am from.
"I am from Slovakia."
Oh, sure - Czechoslovakia!!"
"Ehm, not anymore, now only Slovakia."
"You have very good hockey players.", he suddendly remarked.
"Wow, thank you for saying that, Sir. I appreciate it, especially when a Canadian says that. You are the best." I was delighted and tried to give a compliment back.
"I remember one game back in 1968. The final fight the title of wolrld champions, Tschechoslovakia vs. Russia - that was the best hockey match I have ever seen. It was during the Russian invasion, eh? You fought like for pride, for life, for everything - so ferociously."
"Wow, I have never heard of that game. But thank you for good advice, I will download and watch it." I felt a little embarassed that a Canadian know about our sport history more than I do.....
Well, you had better - a spectacular game...."He kept on his flattering speech.

It is terrific to see that on the other side of the world we are known for something and morover, for something at which the foreign country is the best.
So in the end, we still have some national awareness and we should be proud of what we, as a tiny country, accomplished in this huge world.
