Tampere is a nice city, one of the biggest in Finland. It is surrounded by two magnificent big lakes that get together in the centre of the town, where their power is handily used by hydro electric power plants. One of the biggest remarks we have seen there are the Hockey Hall of Fame, the Lenin s museum, two beautiful churches, lovely city park among the lakes, interesting city library looking as a bird and an observation tower on a small hill nearby the city. Obviously, this city does not have as much tourism as Helsinki, cause people were staring at us more than we stared at the sightseeing.
One lady even messed up my picture at a statue as she came to me while Lila was taking the shot. The streets were also emptier and more abandoned as one could expect. I was very happy that finally I could see the true Finish people. They are mostly blond and it is not uncommon to see there guys with long hair – as I supposed, it is a great place for folks admiring the metal culture. Some more practical information about Tampere: The railway station is in the downtown and it is very easy to locate it. Public toilets are usually not free, but in the city centre I was able to find one that was open (accidentally, maybe??) There is also no need to make reservation for the night trains from Tampere to the North.
