Turku (city)
We travelled from Rovaniemi to Turku, the third largest city in Finland. To my mind it is not big at all – although we walked throughout the downtown for almost six hours, I think that the city is rather small. It is supposed to be the second most beautiful, historical city after Helsinki, but honestly I found Tampere more beautiful because of the magnificent lakes and remarkable cathedrals. Walking along the river is fine, the promenade is also interesting, but as I said earlier, Finnish cities do not live with tourism as much as other metropolises in South. As the most interesting I find two big churches – the cathedral of Turku and one another red church, which looks fabulous. Turku has also many green areas, parks and benches – it is a great place for having a walk. What I really like is that we did not run into any tourists; we looked simply like local people, we just talked in a different language :) It was a nice place to see – not so many architectonic wonders, but many cute parks and great walks. I wish Bratislava had also so many parks, statues and cute fountains.
